CNCC discovers new fossil specimens at Sand Wash Basin

It was a cool early morning when the group of about 15 students and teachers met at CNCC’s Craig campus for a safety briefing before setting out into an area of BLM-managed land where bright green sediment has been exposed by years of wind, sun, and rain. The sediments could contain a dozen or more fossilized sea turtles and other creatures — pieces of which were visible on the ground within minutes of CNCC’s arrival Saturday.




GOAL Academy named Microsoft Showcase School

GOAL Academy High School has been selected by Microsoft as a Microsoft Showcase School for their "excellence in demonstrated student outcomes resulting from their commitment to educational transformation," according to a news release from the school.





CNCC paleontology program expands offerings at Craig campus

Dinosaur enthusiasts now have an official plan of study to pursue at Colorado Northwestern Community College. The current fall semester has marked the first term in which CNCC has offered an associate's of science degree with a paleontology plan of study, and the program has already started attracting students from all over the country.
