Sasha Nelson

Sasha Nelson is our education and health care reporter. She was born and raised in Northwest Colorado and developed a relationship with the newspaper early. She recalls helping her grandmother to create rubber bands balls from the rubber bands that continue to be used to keep the print edition rolled. She helped her brother deliver papers from a bicycle; as a college student she earned a place as a reporter-intern; before freelancing and contributing a regular column based on her experiences of being a conservative conservationist.

Nelson spent many years away from Northwest Colorado for her academic education. She holds four university degrees in science and communication including two that she earned while living for about seven years in Australia. She feels her most meaningful contributions were those closer to home such as raising over half the funds needed to restore the Center of Craig, helping secure the gunfighter collection at the Museum of Northwest Colorado and she is currently assisting the Humane Society of Moffat County with a project to build a Craig’s first dog park.

She started full time at the Craig Daily Press on August 1, 2016 and after “dabbling” she is delighted to work as a professional journalist.
