Barbara Ellen Green Lund

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Barbara’s life at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at United Methodist Church, 736 Oak Street, Steamboat Springs, CO. Donations in her name may be made to Our Daily Bread, Enid, OK.
Barbara was born on July 25, 1929, on a small farm south of Carthage, Missouri to Herschel Ray and Ida Myrtle Hudson Green. She died on December 10, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family, in Steam¬boat Springs, Colorado.
Soon after her birth, Barb’s family moved to the Kansas City, Missouri area and settled in East Independence. She attended a two-room grade school, Spring Branch, for eight years. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1947. Barbara chose to enter the nursing profession and graduated from the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. License.
She was employed by Dr. H.V. Woods, MD until her marriage on May 23, 1954 to Rob Roy Lund. They celebrated 61 years together earlier this year. Rob and Barb lived in San Francisco, CA, Maryville, MO, Joplin, MO, Santa Fe, NM, and Lawton, OK before settling Enid, OK in 1969. Barbara continued her nursing career at the Methodist Golden Age Home in Enid from 1969 until 1987, when she retired after several years as Director of Nursing Services. Barb and Rob moved to Steamboat Springs, CO in 2014 to be near family.
She enjoyed golf, bridge, quilting, gardening, and cooking. She was a Den Mother, as well as a Campfire, Brownie, and Girl Scout leader when her children were small. After retirement, she volunteered for several years at Our Daily Bread in Enid.
Barbara was active in Central Christian Church, Enid, OK where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Trustee. She enjoyed help¬ing in the kitchen and she was a charter member the Caregivers.
Her greatest joy was sharing with Rob the care of their children and grandchildren. She is survived by Rob and their son James Rob (Jim) Lund of Ardmore, OK; daughter Molly Wilson and her husband Von Wilson of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandchildren Matthew Beaudin, Carly Beaudin and Wyatt Wilson; daughter Amy Joss and her husband Malcolm Joss of Linlithgow, Scotland; grandchildren Charlotte Joss and Max Joss; brothers Richard (Dick) Green and wife Hope of Independence, MO; Daniel Green of Orange, CA; sister Nancy Hedden of Independence, MO; sister-in-law Mary Linkhart of Boulder, CO; sister-in-law Patty Lund of Liberty, MO and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, HR Green and Larry Green; and two infant granddaughters, Laney Wilson and Polly Joss.
