Jacob Allen Zabel
January 29, 2015
Jacob Allen Zabel lost his battle with depression on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Jacob was born the son of Kirk and Beverly (Blank) Zabel on May 3, 1994 in Raton, New Mexico. In addition to Raton Jacob lived in Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Kemmerer, Wyoming; Concord, California; Caracas, Venezuela; Golden, Colorado and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Jacob was very witty and enjoyed making people laugh. He was an avid hunter and devout Broncos fan. Jacob was a good student at his high school Escuela Campo Alegre in Caracas, Venezuela and at the Colorado School of Mines where he was a Junior. Jacob loved kids and enjoyed babysitting, probably in part because it gave him an excuse to play with the kids. He enjoyed building models and Brook Trout fishing in mountain streams. He loved working in the hay field, particularly baling hay. People often commented on what a wonderful person Jacob was and how he made them laugh.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Kirk and Beverly Zabel, his brother Travis Zabel of Fort Collins, Colorado, his grandparents Curtis and Shirley Zabel of Steamboat and Ed and Orah Blank of Steamboat. He is also survived by Uncles and Aunts Ty and Gina Zabel of Steamboat, Ken and Reniece Jones of Aurora, Colorado and Bob and Linda Aspey of Hudson, Colorado, and cousins Marcus, Nicholas, Keeley, Wesley, Bethany, Tyanna and Taylen.
Although our hearts ache for Jacob, we know he is now at peace in God's loving arms.
A celebration of Jacob's life will be held mid-April in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. For more information please call the Yampa Valley Funeral Home 970-879-1494.
