Roy Kenneth Battson

Roy Kenneth Battson, Jr., was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Los Angeles, the son of Roy Kenneth and Evelyn (Flowers) Battson, Sr.
He was raised in the Los Angeles area and graduated from high school in Van Nuys, Calif.
Ken married Gladys E. Vance on June 28, 1970, in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in Los Angeles and later Susanville, Calif., where they lived until moving to the Little Snake River Valley in Wyoming in 2006.
Ken worked as a refrigeration and air conditioning contractor until moving to Wyoming. He then operated the Lariat Quick Stop and Fireside Family Restaurant in Baggs, Wyo.
Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ken died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at his home in Savery, Wyo., as a result of an accident while working on his pickup.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of Savery, Wyo.; daughters Michelle (Michael) Gifford, of Simi Valley, Calif., Linda Battson, of Austin, Texas, Katie (Jeremiah) Friend, of Rawlins, Wyo., Jenny (Sam) Short, of Craig, and Kelly (Matthew) Honea, of Winston Salem, N.C.; grandchildren Benjamin Battson, Jacob Dreiling, Julianne Dreiling, Laura Friend, Hayden Short, Ruby Short, Bridget Honea, Dylan Friend, Bella Short, Violet Honea, Sophia Gifford, Savannah Gifford and Melody Honea; and sisters Sharon and Barbara Battson.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren Nathan, Nicholas and Samuel Gifford.
A private memorial service took place Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the family home.
