John Kinkaid: What do they do?
What exactly are our elected officials doing for us?
I’ve been trying to think of things that Scott Tipton and Bob Rankin have accomplished on our behalf.
I can’t come up with anything that they have done that has put Moffat County in a better position.
Rankin is on the Joint Budget Committee, but that hasn’t helped us any. Our school district still struggles to keep the lights on with underfunding.
Rankin was even standing behind Governor Polis last week at the capitol for a Polis photo op. Rankin is too busy being a big deal. He isn’t representing Northwest Colorado.
Tipton left the Natural Resources Committee (where we could really use help) and moved to the Financial Services Committee. That’s of no help to Moffat County residents. Why isn’t Tipton calling President Trump every week asking for help to keep Moffat County’s economy going? And Nucla’s economy too, for that matter.
We need champions in Washington D.C. and the state capitol who will fight on our behalf to keep our community moving forward. Tipton and Rankin have Rs behind their names, but that’s about it. We are struggling to keep our heads above water over here and they’re in the boat, just oblivious to our plight. Not even a life preserver thrown our way. Seriously, how are we better off here at home, because of their public service?
We need elected officials who will give it their all and we’re not getting it. Somebody needs to primary these guys next year. Moffat County deserves better.
