Letter to the Editor: Thank you from the Popular Bar
Never in my wildest dreams could any of us imagine what 2020 would bring. For us, it has brought almost 5 months of complete closure for my business that I have owned and operated for 37 years in Craig, Colorado.
My business has been my pride and joy and one of my greatest accomplishments in life. In mid-June, we received the go-ahead that we could open back up for business, only to be told less than two weeks later that we had to close our doors again.
I have always been a proud woman and never like asking for help. Well, many angels here in Craig, Colorado took it upon themselves to take a stand and help us out of the kindness of their hearts.
The family at J.W. Snacks hosted an amazing fundraising benefit for the Popular Bar. Michele Jones was at the center of the fundraising campaign that consisted of a silent auction, drawing tickets for prizes, cash donations and several local businesses donated supplies/materials towards construction of a kitchen.
The outpouring of support from our community was unbelievable. So many people jumped in to help the cause with item donations, cash donations, or to help with the event itself.
All in all, the event raised just over $18,000 for the Popular Bar! Since the event, we have been busy remolding the bar and getting a kitchen up and running. We officially re-opened on August 3, with limited operating hours and a kitchen serving Paninis for now.
I wish that I could list everyone that helped with the cause and supported us, but there were many silent angles involved in this also and I wouldn’t want to miss anyone.
I never imagined that so many people cared about our small town business and would be so generous to help. Just another thing that makes me love our community. So again, thank you, thank you to everyone involved!
You all are a blessing and we are looking forward to seeing you soon!
With all our love and gratitude,
Dena Garcia and the Popular Bar Family
