Giving thanks to our carriers

First of all, I want to thank our readers and advertisers for supporting us through our recent changes of going from four days down to two days, as well as going free at the rack instead of providing home delivery. We know this change hasn’t come without pain to many of you and we appreciate you sticking with us. We are continuing to work on bringing you a stronger local newspaper.

Home delivery was offered for years as a way to receive your local news. In order to make that happen, it took a lot of work behind the scenes of our circulation managers as well as several contract carriers. Your carriers would be up often times at 1-2 a.m. to get the newspaper, roll them and delivery them to your home on their routes. This happened during each season no matter what the weather was like. The only difference you might have noticed was if our press had a mechanical issue and the papers arrived later than usual, but you could still count on your carrier to bring the paper to your home.

To all of our carriers over the years — these people were always steadfast and could be counted on. Thank you for all you have done. We can never repay you for the sacrifices you made getting up so early and making sure our community had their local newspaper before 6 a.m. on publication days.

To follow is a list of first names of our carriers, and if we have missed any, we do apologize:
