Obituary: Roy Franklin Harris, Jr.

October 25, 1939- June 25, 2019

Roy Franklin Harris, Jr. was born October 25, 1939 to Roy F. Harris, Sr. and Hazel Harris. Roy was born at their home in Craig, Co. He was their only child. Roy married Oveta Ence in 1961, and to that union two children were born, Roy Jay Harris and Oveta Janette Harris. Roy was drafted to the Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. Roy worked for his father at Roy Harris Auto and Implement, Colowyo Coal Company, Snare equipment, and he also did a lot of freelance mechanic and welding work around the valley. He had a reputation for being an excellent mechanic. Over the years Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, horseback riding, collecting and shooting guns. He was always known for doing whatever he set his mind to, no matter what anyone said, some would say he was stubborn.

Roy passed away on June 25, 2019 at Walbridge Wing in Meeker, Co. Roy is preceded in death by his mother and father, Roy and Hazel Harris, and his wife Oveta. He is survived by his son Jay and his wife Rita, his daughter Janette, his grandchildren Jennifer Hergenreter and husband Seth, and Christine Harris, and his great grandchildren Blake and Kade Hergenreter. Roy’s service will be Monday at 2:00pm at Grant Mortuary, there will be a viewing at 1:00pm.
