November 21, 1972 – September 4, 2020

Diana Marie Carter Booco, age 47, passed away at her home with her family by her side, on Friday, September 4th, 2020. She battled cancer for over a year and never gave up. Diana spent the last four months of her life surrounded by the love of her sisters and those moments will live on in their hearts forever.

Diana was born on November 21, 1972, in Craig, Colorado to Arthur Dewey and Dorothy Jean Costle Carter. She grew up in Craig racing her bicycle up and down Rose street with her wild hair tucked under her baseball cap and playing football in the backyard with her siblings and cousins. She was known to her family as “Charlie”.

She was a natural athlete and excelled at basketball, volleyball, and track. In fact, many of her records from high school still exist in the halls of Moffat County High School. She graduated from MCHS in 1991 and then attended Northwestern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado on a basketball scholarship.

Diana married Larry Booco and she became a mother when Zachary Wayne was born in 1995. Diana also gave life to Jeremiah Dean (J.D.) in 2003 and Macey Jadyn in 2005. She loved her children fiercely and was very proud of them. Her only regret was not being here to watch them grow.

She loved camping and fishing and her favorite spots were Diamond Park, Sand Wash, Irish Canyon, Miller Creek, and the family cabin. She loved her family, her dogs and cats, riding her motorcycle, a fresh chew in her mouth, a cold one, campfires, playing the guitar, George Strait, making breakfast pizzas & pumpkin bread, her baseball cap, and her favorite tv show “Yellowstone”.

She hated hypocrites, liars, avocado, poached eggs, and cream of wheat. Not necessarily in that order.

Diana had many friends. She was easy to like and people gravitated toward her laid-back style. She enjoyed her time as a coach and working at the Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehabilitation center and spending time with the residents.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Dewey and Dorothy Carter, grandparents Arthur Dewey Sr Carter, Jerry Mae Carter, Everette and Leola (Hickam) Costle, Helen Duzik Jones, and nephew Jacob Jones.

Diana is survived by her children Zach (Dara), J.D. and Macey Booco. Her siblings Don (Jean) Jones, Doris (Glen) Aitken, Deborah (Dan) Lowe, Dennis (Denise) Jones, and Dana (Kevin) Roberts. Her nephews & nieces Don (Misty) Jones, Chris (Amy) Jones, Scott Anthony, Jason Epp (John Anderson), Angela (Gerry) Wooden, Jesse Aitken, Josh (Rachel) Lowe, Jesse Lowe, Jeni (Russ) Giedd, and Nick (Miranda) Jones, Kody Roberts, and Kyle Roberts.

She also leaves behind many other family members, friends, and the entire Craig community.

Although Diana requested no services, she would probably say “Remember me when you go camping and look up at the stars, crack open a cold beer and play your campfire songs”.
