Bill Lennart Hesselgren was born the son of Borje Johannes and Dorothy Marie (Lindmark) Hesselgren on April 19, 1946 in Boden, Sweden. Bill spent his early childhood in Sweden before moving to Chicago, Illinois. The Hesselgren’s later moved to Morrison, Colorado, where he graduated from Morrison High School with the class of 1965. After high school, Bill furthered his education at a liberal arts school in Lindsburg, Kansas. During the Vietnam era, Bill honorably served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany as a medic. On November 11, 1972, Bill married Patricia Ann Wallace in Golden, Colorado. To this union, a daughter was born. The couple were married just shy of 40 years before Patricia passed away on May 7, 2012. Bill retired after many years of service from Tri State as a technical analyst in 2013. When he wasn’t working, Bill enjoyed welding, designing houses, traveling and enjoying life to the fullest. He had passion for art history, was an avid reader and enjoyed researching his ancestry. Above all, Bill was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He will be missed deeply by his family and a large circle of friends. On July 14, 2014, Bill married Patricia Ann Bunce at the Iowa City VA Chapel in Iowa City, Iowa. The couple enjoyed spending time together, taking care of their fur babies and traveling. Bill and Patricia would have celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary this year. Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Hesselgren of Craig; daughter, Kristine Cooper and her husband Mathew of Craig; one brother, Robert Hesselgren of Colburn, CO; two sisters, Linda Mahlum of Bayfield, CO and Linnea Vegas of Mancos, CO; and one aunt, Doris Hayland of Sweden. Bill is further survived by three grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patricia Ann (Wallace) Hesselgren; a niece, Dena Vegas; and a nephew, Charles Thompson. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bill’s memory to National Jewish Health in Denver for continued respiratory disease research in care of Grant Mortuary.
