Longtime Craig resident, Betty Jean Hampton, died peacefully on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at her home in Hayden. She was 80. Upon Betty’s request, no services will be held. Betty Jean Fletcher was born the daughter of Walter and Ruby (Vincent) Fletcher on June 4, 1940 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Grand Junction. At the age of 14, Betty met the love of her life, Charles Raymond Hampton in Grand Junction. After a short courtship, Betty and Charles were married on December 9, 1955. To this union, eight children were born. The couple had the honor of celebrating 63 years of marriage before Charles passed away on May 26, 2019. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed listening to old country music. Above all, Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great grandmother. Betty is survived by her seven children: Guy (Valaray) Hampton of Rifle, Monty (Cindy) Hampton of Fairview, OK, Billy (Michelle) Hampton of Clifton, Glenn (Shelly) Hampton of Layton, UT, Roy (Shawn) Hampton of Rifle, Troy (Stephanie) Hampton of Craig and Lisa (Jimmy) Rossi of Hayden. She is further survived by 28 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter, Judy Lynn Hampton; one granddaughter, Glenda Nielson; and one great-grandson, Dominic Boren.
