Wrestlers improve vs. Meeker

On Friday, the Moffat County wrestling team improved on its first win against Meeker at the beginning of January. At the Dog Fight Duals in Craig the Bulldogs defeated Meeker, 46-31. On Friday, Moffat defeated Meeker, 51-23.

The Bulldogs won nine matches with seven pins. Cory Vigil, 103 pounds; Brice Boling, 112 pounds; Jake Breslin, 119 pounds; Chris McAlexander, 130 pounds; Lyle Schaffner, 135 pounds; Drew Turner, 140 pounds; and Trenton Duarte, 160 pounds won by pin. Jake Satterwhite, 215 pounds, won by forfeit and David Hickson, heavyweight, won 9-5.

“It was good to see the pins,” coach Roman Gutierrez said. “But there were a couple of guys who could have wrestled a little better.”

The Bulldogs competed without state champion Korey Kostur, who sat out all week because of sickness.
