Women’s Wellness Connection reminding women to test for cervical cancer

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

Coming on the heels of Cervical Health Awareness Month, Women’s Wellness Connection would like to remind and encourage women to talk with their healthcare providers about scheduling a pap test.

A pap test is the first line of defense against cervical cancer, which has a survival rate of more than 92 percent when diagnosed early enough, according to a news release from women’s Wellness Connection.

Without a pap test cervical cancer is hard to detect as it doesn’t have any signs or symptoms.

The release said under health care reform insurance plans are required to cover women’s preventive health services, like pap tests, without charging co-pays.

The Women’s Wellness Connection offers free cervical cancer screenings and necessary follow up treatments to Colorado women between the ages of 40-64 who have little or no health insurance and meet income requirements.
