White declares senate candidacy for 2008
September 6, 2007
Al White, current Republican state representative for Northwest Colorado House District 57, will run for state Senate District 8 in 2008.
District 8 encompasses most of the same area as house district 57. It does not include Grand County, but does expand to parts of Eagle County.
White has been weighing his decision to run for the last couple of weeks, said White in an Aug. 27 interview with the Daily Press.
He has been elected to four two-year terms in the Colorado House of Representatives, and is ineligible to run again for a House seat because of term limits.
State Sen. Jack Taylor (R), White’s ally in state Congress who currently represents the voters in Senate District 8, is ineligible to run for his seat in 2008 also because of term limits. Taylor has served two four-year terms.
The state senator has been quoted he would give his full endorsement to White should he choose to run.
