Local bars, restaurants to offer holiday specials

Local bars and restaurants are planning to ring in the New Year on Wednesday with dinner deals, drink specials and, in some cases, a party.
Thunder Rolls Bowling Center, 990 Industrial Ave., is scheduled to host a New Year’s Eve party from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. The event is open to residents ages 21 and older.
Door prizes and party favors will be provided while patrons knock down a few pins. Champagne will be served at midnight to top off the evening.
“It’s a great way to celebrate and bring in the New Year,” Co-owner Beryl Dschaak said.
Would-be partygoers should RSVP no later than Wednesday morning.
Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way, will keep its doors open until 2 a.m. Thursday to supply revelers with champagne, hats and other party favors.

Another New Year’s Eve bash takes place from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 2 a.m. Thursday at Mathers Lounge & Cafe, 420 Yampa Ave.
Co-owner Michael Mathers said he hopes locals will stop by “to socialize with their friends and ring in a new year.”
For a $5 cover charge, residents can enjoy a dance and receive party favors, including hats and beads. Partygoers will greet the New Year with a midnight champagne toast.
Other area eateries and bars will provide special dishes Wednesday night.
JW Snacks Gulf Coast Bar and BBQ, 210 E. Victory Way, will offer drink and dinner specials. Paradise Grill, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13, will provide special meals on New Year’s Eve and will reopen at 2 p.m. New Year’s Day.
VFW Steakhouse, 419 E. Victory Way, will offer prime rib and lobster dinners.
Cugino’s Pizzeria and Italian will serve up two specials Wednesday night: a seafood supreme pasta and 12-ounce prime rib. Residents can buy half-price margaritas and draft beers for $2 each from 5 to 9 p.m.
The restaurant will maintain its regular hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and will be closed Thursday.
Carelli’s Pizzeria, 465 Yampa Ave., will have a filet mignon special on hand, including green pepper sauce and potatoes. Staff at Golden Cavvy Restaurant, 538 Yampa Ave., will serve up an 8-ounce sirloin and shrimp meal, including a glass of champagne, soup or salad and a dessert. Draft beers also will be available for $2 each.
Tin Cup Grill, 2179 Colorado Highway 394, plans to serve an all-you-can-eat prime rib and crab leg buffet from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
OP Bar & Grill, 534 E. Victory Way, will serve a wide selection of seafood entrees, including crab legs, shrimp scampi and king crab. Michele Toovey, OP bartender and waitress, expects residents to turn out to the restaurant Wednesday because “the food’s awesome,” she said.
