EAGLE — A Vail Valley teenager was killed Wednesday evening when the vehicle she was driving crashed and rolled.

Megan Lodge, a 17-year old Eagle Valley High School senior, was the sole occupant of the vehicle she was driving, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Among her many high school activities, Lodge was an accomplished member of Eagle Valley’s speech team, and advanced to the national competition, one of the few to achieve that.

Earlier this month, Lodge was also a student director for Eagle Valley’s theater production of “Almost Maine.”

Eagle Valley High School Principal Greg Doan is contacting parents, students, and staff. The school will open Friday morning from 9 a.m. to noon with counselors available for anyone who needs support, the school district said in a statement.

Lodge was headed west on Interstate 70 just east of Eagle when the car she was driving crossed through the median and into the eastbound lane, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gary Cutler said.

The vehicle rolled and Lodge was ejected. No other vehicles were involved, Cutler said.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the accident.
