Wellness Tip: Sesame seeds offer nourishment
Sesame seeds are an affordable food that deeply nourishes the body on many levels. Sesame seeds are full of high-quality protein and are particularly rich in iron. Sesame seed oil improves heart health with their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in sesamol. Black sesame seeds are especially high in phytosterols, which play an important role in lowering cholesterol. Sesame seeds are rich in calcium and magnesium, important for bone, brain and overall health. The high zinc content helps produce collagen, giving skin more elasticity and helping repair damaged body tissues. Try sautéing mature spinach with sesame oil, garlic, ginger, a dash of rice vinegar and top it with toasted sesame seed for a nutrient-dense salad. Enjoy!

I spent this past Saturday morning preparing for Sunday’s lunch branding — at least what I could get done early. I cooked pasta and boiled eggs. I made a gelatin salad. I decided to bake a banana cake, a family favorite, for dessert.
