Wellness Tip: Protein

Protein is an essential part of our diet. Protein consists of amino acids that play an important role in our bodies including energy production, muscle repair, balanced blood sugar and immune health.
A protein-packed breakfast is an excellent path to wellness. Breakfast is often full of high sugar, high carbohydrate foods. Instead of reaching for a fast, sugary breakfast, protein smoothies are a fast fix to load up on nutrient dense super foods.
Try blending one serving of a high quality protein powder, ½ cup of frozen berries, half of a banana, two tablespoons of chia or flax seeds, eight ounces of almond or coconut milk and a heaping handful of fresh spinach for a fast, fresh, protein-packed breakfast.
