Wellness Tip: Be cautious with head injuries
When it comes to bumps on the head, the size of a “goose egg” doesn’t necessarily correlate with the severity of the injury. In the instance of a head injury be sure to apply ice to the location, rest and eliminate exposure to electronics.
Treat pain with acetaminophen rather than ibuprofen, which can increase the incidence of bleeding. Monitor for symptoms that include severe headache, vomiting, loss of consciousness, memory loss, weakness or confusion. These symptoms may warrant a trip to the emergency department to rule out significant health concerns.
