The Bulldogs dropped their opening game of the Thornton high school boys basketball tournament to the fifth-ranked Eagles. Senior Chayton Owens tallied a game-high 30 points.

Dec. 19 vs. Littleton* L 53-47

Moffat County lost its fourth consecutive game, falling to 0-2 at Thornton High School. Owens led three Bulldogs in double figures, finishing with 14 points. Collin Jackson and Mike Peters pitched in with 10 points each.

Dec. 20 at Lewis-Palmer* W 56-49

Owens tallied a triple-double (20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots) guiding the Bulldogs past the Rangers, halting the team’s four-game skid. Peters finished with six points and eight assists, while shooting guard Thomas Noble drained four 3-pointers on his way to 12 points.

Dec. 20 vs. Mesa Ridge* W 46-36

Moffat County ended its nonconference schedule with a victory against the Grizzlies in its final game of the Thornton tourney. Noble led the Bulldogs attack with 18 points. Owens finished with 11 points and nine boards.

The Bulldogs used five undefeated performances on the first day of the Warrior Classic to surpass last season’s two-day point total in less than 12 hours.

Moffat County hit a rough patch in the tournament’s final day, advancing one wrestler to the medal round. The Bulldogs finished the event with 63.5 points, placing 21st out of 32 teams.
