Weekend Roundup: Pin down some good times

The local sports scene is hopping this weekend, so support Craig teams and maybe get a nice meal out of it in the meantime.

Spartan spirit

Colorado Northwestern Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams return to Craig this weekend for their first home games in Scenic West Athletic Conference play as they face off with the College of Southern Nevada. Games will take place both Friday and Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park.
When: Games 1 and 3 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday

Bulldog business

Moffat County High School sports teams will have a busy Saturday at home as boys soccer hosts Colorado Rocky Mountain School and volleyball teams prep for a long day, a doubleheader against Basalt that includes two games apiece for C-Team, JV and varsity against the Longhorns.

When: Soccer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; volleyball from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

A community clean-up day will begin Saturday at Center of Craig as organizers seek volunteers to aid in various improvement projects along Yampa Avenue.

When: 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday

Cost: Free to volunteer

Wrestle up some good grub

The Moffat County High School wrestling program will host its annual prime rib dinner fundraiser Saturday at Center of Craig . A silent auction follows at 7 p.m. and is free for those who don’t wish to attend the dinner portion.

Tickets are available at Favorite Things, 584 Yampa Ave., or by contacting the program through MOCO Wrestling on Facebook. Tickets will also be available at the door.

When: Starts at 5 p.m. Saturday
Where: Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.
Cost: Tickets $25 per person or $75 for a family of four for the meal; silent auction free to attend

Folksy fare

Craig Concert Association hosts the beginning of its 2017-18 season with “Scarborough Fair: A Simon and Garfunkel Experience” Tuesday night at Moffat County High School auditorium. The Guthrie brothers perform a tribute to the title act as one of several shows in the coming months offered by CCA.

When: 7 p.m. Tuesday

Cost: Season tickets $40 for adults, $35 for seniors, $90 for a family or $10 for students; non-members $20 per show for adults and $10 for students
