Weather Watch: Wet week in store for Craig

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

— The temperature may be rising little by little as Northwest Colorado nears Valentine’s Day, but if your love is reserved for dry weather, you’re likely to have your heart broken.

Craig and Moffat County are expected to see some precipitation this week, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The type of moisture and the amount all could depend on what part of the county you’re in, said meteorologist Chris Cuoco, with the NWS Grand Junction office.

“The Craig area will just be scattered snow showers — not much in accumulation, just a little dusting here and there,” he said.

Cuoco said more northern areas will see some decent snow Monday, while within city limits, the powder could turn out to be more of a rain.

Tuesday will have less activity, but Wednesday night will bring another round of stormy climates through Thursday, Cuoco said.

“It’ll be a really wet pattern,” he said.

Temperatures stretching into the 40s later this week also will affect the weekend weather, which stands at only about a 20 percent chance of snow and rain for Saturday and Sunday at this time.
