Weather Watch: Snow will start week for Craig, Northwest Colorado
Expect to see some white stuff on the ground this week, for however long it may stay there.
According to the National Weather Service, there will be a 50 percent chance of snow starting Monday afternoon, with the likelihood of the cold precipitation increasing to 60 percent by nightfall.
Eastward moving cold fronts will put a good amount of snow in the more mountainous areas of Northwest Colorado with Craig’s city limits seeing about 3 to 5 inches by Tuesday morning, said Joe Ramey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Grand Junction office.
However, just as quickly as the frozen weather sets in, it could be gone just as fast as the rest of the week starts to heat up again.
“There’s a good cold start to the day Wednesday, but then we have high pressure building Thursday and by Friday a little disturbance passes through Montana and Wyoming and could drag some showers through Craig, but it doesn’t look overly impressive,” Ramey said.
Expected highs are in the low 50s for Friday and Saturday, but Ramey said the warmth might only last a little past the weekend.
“We’ve got some dry south by southwest flow with a chance of precipitation starting up again next Tuesday,” he said.
