Walmart shoplifter slips police for now: On the Record — April 16

9:02 a.m. On the 1000 block of Sage Court, community services personnel in Craig responded to a code enforcement call. A resident was issued a verbal warning for a code violation, but no additional information was available Wednesday.

9:20 a.m. On the 800 block of Ledford Court, police in Craig responded to a criminal mischief call. A caller reported someone may have attempted to enter a vehicle, but when police responded, they found no damage to the vehicle and the call was cleared.

9:35 a.m. On the 1000 block of Barclay Street, community services personnel responded to a code enforcement call. A resident was issued a verbal warning or a code violation, but no additional information was available Wednesday.

10:00 a.m. At Northwest Pawn Shop, police in Craig responded to a weapons violation. Craig police said a firearm purchase was denied by the state, but the suspect was gone before officers arrived. Craig police said they referred the case to law enforcement in Meeker.

10:27 a.m. On the 900 block of West First Street, police in Craig responded to a theft call. A female party reported a lost or stolen wallet at the Public Safety Center.

10:34 a.m. On the 800 block of Yampa Avenue, police in Craig responded to a report of a possible drunk driver. A caller at the north Kum & Go reported a driver who was possibly impaired, but police were unable to locate the suspect in the area.

11:49 a.m. On the 600 block of Ledford Street, police in Craig responded to an alarm call. Officers said they investigated an elevator alarm and found it to be caused by an elevator inspection.

1:24 p.m. On the 2000 block of West Victory Way, police in Craig responded to a theft call. A caller reported a possible shoplifter at Walmart, but the suspect left the premises before police arrived. The case is still under investigation.
