Veterans Hotline: Veterans be warned — Veterans Affairs Services scam is back
The scam is back.
An organization called Veterans Affairs Services is providing benefit and general information on the Department of Veterans Affairs, and gathering personal information on veterans.
This organization is not affiliated with the VA in any way.
Websites with the address http://www.vaservices, or something similar, are not part of the VA or the U.S. government.
Do not cooperate with them if approached or called, and do not offer them any information concerning yourself or data on other veterans.
Keep in mind, the real VA website ends in .gov, rather than .com or .org.
Job opportunities available for veterans
The Backcountry Trails Program and Veterans Green Corps are launching an all-veterans Backcountry Trails crew.
This project will provide work and training opportunities for veterans ages 20 to 30 returning from Iraq or Afghanistan.
The VGC and Backcountry Trails program are both dedicated to natural resource conservation, service to others and providing young adults opportunities to transition into the workforce.
The all-veteran crew will be recruited and deployed as a special unit within the long-standing and nationally recognized Backcountry Trails Program to construct and maintain trails in Sequoia National Park, Los Padres National Forest, Yosemite National Park and other California wilderness areas.
Each spring, the Backcountry Trails Program assembles crews of 15 to 17 young men and women from widely diverse backgrounds, who leave behind the conveniences and luxuries of modern life and venture into the mountains to spend five months doing some of the most challenging and ultimately rewarding work of their lives.
For more information or to apply, contact Veterans Green Corps at 2627 W. Sixth Ave., Denver, CO 80204, or visit http://www.veteransgreenjobs.org. The organization can also be reached at (719) 235-7030
I have all the brochures for this program, so you can come into my office and review them if you are interested.
Have fun and get paid, too.
