There will be a Fourth of July parade at noon Monday starting at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way. Lineup begins at 11 a.m.

Feel free to call Johnny Garcia at 629-3345 for information.

The theme for the parade is red, white and blue, and anyone who wishes to enter the parade is more than welcome. All are welcome to walk, or ride anything that moves.

After the parade, there will be free hot dogs and hamburgers in Craig City Park behind the VFW.

There will be an egg toss, three-legged races, a penny pit, balloon stomp, bouncey house and other activities for children of all ages.

Here's wishing everyone a happy Fourth of July weekend, and please remember why we celebrate this holiday.

Forms key to receiving benefits

I have many folders in my desk waiting for forms to be filled out and returned. Some of these date back to March 2009.

If you're a veteran who needs to finish your form, please do so or contact me and I will be happy to help you out.

The sooner these forms are turned in, the sooner your benefits will start.

The new rates for state nursing homes for 2012 are as follows:
