Vacation interrupted by report of fraud: On the Record — Sept. 11 and 12

Tuesday, Sept. 11

5:20 a.m. At the intersection of Ninth Street and Ridge Road, officers with Craig Police Department received a call about a water leak in a construction zone. The officers informed the city’s water department about the leak.

9:04 a.m. On the 800 block of Yampa Avenue, officers recovered a missing bicycle and took it for safe keeping.

1:40 p.m. In Craig, officers received a Safe 2 Tell tip from a caller. The tip is under investigation.

2:01 p.m. On the 2700 block of First Street, officers responded to a two-car crash. There were no injuries, and traffic was not blocked. A citation was issued to one of the drivers.

3:23 p.m. On the 800 block of Seventh Street, a caller reported an unwanted juvenile on their property. Officers questioned the juvenile.

4:13 p.m. On the 2000 block of Victory Way, officers issued a citation to a juvenile for suspicion of theft. The juvenile was released to his parents.

7:11 p.m. On the 100 block of Victory Way, a caller reported seeing a car with a broken window in a parking lot. Officers attempted to contact the owner but were unable to do so. The car was tagged for removal.

9:19 p.m. On the 600 block of Connor Drive, a caller reported a disturbance between homeowners involving dogs. Officers were able to resolve the issue with the homeowners.

9:29 p.m. On the 2300 block of First Street, officers investigated an alarm at a home. They determined it was a false alarm.

Wednesday, Sept. 12

8:57 a.m. In Craig, officers received a Safe 2 Tell call tip from a caller. The tip is under investigation.

11:52 a.m. At the intersection of Steele Street and Industrial Avenue, officers helped a pedestrian who was looking for directions.

12:09 p.m. At the intersection of Finley Lane and Sixth Street, officers arrested a 30-year-old Craig woman on a warrant from another agency and for driving under restraint.

12:34 p.m. On the 900 block of Yampa Avenue, officers cited a juvenile for possession of tobacco.

12:55 p.m. At the intersection of Victory Way and Mack Lane, a caller reported seeing a drunken diver. Officers couldn’t find the driver.

1:39 p.m. On the 500 block of School Street, a caller on vacation reported suspected fraud after he received a call that someone had attempted to cash a check supposedly written by him. The matter is under investigation.

4 p.m. On the 700 block of Russell Street, a business owner called to report a dispute between two employees. The dispute was resolved by the business owner. Officers took a report.

4:34 p.m. On the 800 block of First Street, officers arrested a 36-year-old Craig man on suspicion of violating a restraining order and violation of bail bonds.

6:36 p.m. In Craig, officers arrested a 34-year-old Craig man on suspicion of assault and child abuse.

11:49 p.m. On the 800 block of Yampa Avenue, a business asked for additional patrols due to increased foot traffic.
