V.L. Wyman: No on lodging tax

To the editor:

Points to ponder:

The revenue generated by the 6.9-percent lodging tax comes from the tourism base we supposedly are trying to develop.

The tourists, visitors and potential citizens are being asked to fund our capital projects, our economic development, our beautification programs and our community infrastructure while we residents pat ourselves on the back because the tax burden will be on them, not us.

And, who would oversee the distribution and use of this projected windfall?

Community boards appointed by the Craig City Council — a surefire recipe for bickering and dissension.

Think on it.
