Troopers believe suspect drowned while fleeing from law enforcement in Palisade

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

PALISADE – A man who jumped into the Highline Canal while fleeing state troopers in Palisade, submerged and never resurfaced prompted an extensive and apparently unfruitful search of the waterway Tuesday evening.

The man — a Hispanic male about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and about 150 pounds — fled on foot after troopers pulled over the car he was traveling in at the Palisade exit of Interstate 70, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Dan Chermok.
