To the editor:

I would like to thank the Craig Daily Press and Patrick Kelly for the article “Volunteers sought for animal shelter” that appeared in the June 22 edition. As a result of the article we received some interest from people willing to volunteer. There will be a volunteer orientation at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 21. Anyone who has an interest in volunteering to work with either small animals or livestock during a disaster is encouraged to attend. The orientation will be in the main floor conference room of the Moffat County Courthouse. Please use the back employee entrance. For additional information please call Tom Soos at 970-824-9153 or JD Sexton at 970-826-3402.

During a disaster when people are displaced from their home and they are under great stress, knowing that their animals are safe and well cared for is a source of comfort and relief. The only way this is possible is through neighbors helping neighbors in their time of need. At the time of a disaster everyone is looking to volunteer to help out, unfortunately without training and being credentialed the opportunities to help are limited. Please take the time to attend the orientation and be a part of The Moffat County Community Animal Response Team.

Again, my thanks to the Daily Press for their continued support of Emergency Management in the Moffat County.
