TLC Carpet One Floor & Tile named Business of the Year
December 1, 2007
Craig — December marks the 30th anniversary for TLC Carpet One Floor & Tile. Owners Jay and Dotty Oxley aren’t planning anything spectacular in light of the feat. If history dictates anything, they’ll probably still be working on something.
For more than a quarter of a century, Jay and Dotty have seen and worked through plenty.
“We’ve overcome the boom and the busts,” Jay said. “We’ve been here through it all.”
When they aren’t at work, their business turns into a business of making good in the community.
The Boys & Girls Club of Craig will name TLC its 2007 Business of the Year at tonight’s Cowboy Christmas.
“The Oxleys give so much of their time and financial support to the community,” Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Dana Duran said. “They went above and beyond with their help in our art room. They are always thinking outside the box.”

Aside from their business in the flooring department, the duo is engaged in many community activities. Jay has coached youth hockey, is an active contributor to the Young Life organization, and is a member of the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors, as well as being the chair of the capital committee.
Dotty is the Relay for Life advocacy chairperson and was a nurse in Craig for 28 years until she decided to work with the family.
“I knew I’d get hired here,” she laughed and said. “I’m 49 percent owner, so I basically hired myself.”
The duo said working together outside the business is where they are making the greatest strides, and they don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
“I believe in doing what I can for the kids of Craig,” Jay said. “From sports, to Young Life, to the Boys & Girls Club, I strongly believe in the future generation. I will always be donating to sports and schools and such.”
Dotty is no exception.
“It makes you feel really good to help out in any way you can,” she said. “It makes us proud we received that recognition. The community has always been good to us, we are just trying to give back to them.”
