Thurlow bill aims to protect severance tax revenues
The last time the state collected more money than it is allowed to keep under the Constitution, lawmakers cut into severance tax dollars to lessen the burden on paying refunds.
That could happen again next year if the state doesn’t move to protect those dollars, and that’s just what Rep. Dan Thurlow hopes to do.
The Grand Junction Republican is to present a bill to the House Finance Committee on Monday that calls for sending the matter to the voters this fall.
