The Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services department and other first-responder agencies will kick off Emergency Medical Services Week, May 18 to 24, by hosting its third annual free community barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Loudy-Simpson Park.

Details: The third annual event is hosted by The Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services department and other first-responders. It includes hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as health and safety information and appearances by the new EMS mascot, Terry the Traumasaurus, and other characters. The event includes hot dogs, hamburgers and other food on the menu, along with health information such as CPR basics and sign-ups for more advanced classes, car seat safety and a “splint-a-bear station” for kids to learn First Aid on stuffed animals.

There will also be a Bicycle Rodeo, with bicycle safety inspections by the Craig Police Department and fire trucks and a Classic Lifeguard helicopter available for viewing.

Families also can meet McGruff the Crime Dog, Redy Fox, Smokey Bear and the new EMS mascot, Terry the Traumasaurus.

Drawings for prizes will be available, too.
