The Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors recently received $5,000 in funding from energy company Questar Corporation. The check, presented to the board earlier this week by Questar representatives Albert Bertagnolli and Todd Rose, will go toward new software for the hospital’s emergency department.

The funding will assist with the purchase of a new electronic medical record system for the department, with the intention of providing the best possible quality emergency care for the Craig and Moffat County community.

“Questar’s generous donation supports the hospital’s mission to provide patient-centered health and wellness to our community,” said Chris Smolik, TMH CEO, in a press release.

TMH Foundation Vice-Chair Sue Lyster said the hospital and those partnering with the organization seek to continue promoting a healthy environment.

“Receiving this funding is an example of the support that is behind improving the quality of healthcare in our community,” she said.

In 2012, TMH Foundation saw funds come in from Shell Exploration and Production Co., the El Pomar Foundation, Twentymile Coal Co., Trapper Mining Inc., Yates Petroleum and the Caring for Colorado Foundation, totaling more than $100,000 as a result.

Foundation Director Eva Peroulis said she expects the organization to raise about the same amount as last year by the end of 2013.

In June, TMH Foundation also received approval for a $50,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, a transfer that is expected to be processed by the end of the year.

The foundation will use the CDPHE funding for the hospital’s electronic medical record system.
