Taste of Home cooks up a fun event in Craig

Easy-to-follow recipes, spices and fun are on the menu for this year’s Taste of Home Cooking School slated to visit Craig on Monday.
The event will take place at the Moffat County High School auditorium, where chef extraordinaire Kristi Larson will teach the audience how to make a variety of dishes with ingredients that can be found in most people’s pantries.
Larson is a culinary specialist who loves to teach cooking, both at home and for a variety of eager students.
“Taste of Home is a community of cooks from across the country. We love to go into different communities and share that love of food and cooking with everyone,” Larson said.
During the show, Larson will be on a stage with a fully equipped kitchen, demonstrating 10 different recipes.
“We just try to have fun,” she said. “The recipes can be trusted. It’s really just a great community of cooking, caring and sharing.”
Local vendors, businesses and volunteers will be involved in the event, helping to pull together what one Craig resident describes as a “great time.”
“I think it’s a fun night out and gives you something to do,” said Kandee Dilldine, owner of KS Creations Bakery. “It gets you out of the house, and you get to learn about cooking.”
The cooking school has visited Craig several times in the past, making it an event that Dilldine can stand behind. She’s enjoys volunteering for the event.
“I love the (Taste of Home) magazine. I think they have great recipes and you always learn new stuff, like tips in the kitchen,” Dilldine said.
One of her favorite recipes that she uses often is the Layered Salad.
“I make it all the time,” she said.
The cooking school is being sponsored by Blue Ribbon Kitchens, Miller Family Appliance, Jackson’s Office Supply and the Craig Daily Press. Tickets are on sale at Miller Family Appliance, Jackson’s Office Supply and the Craig Daily Press office.
