Superfood Tip: Tree Nuts
Highlighting nuts as a super food can be confusing because they are loaded with calories. But, when eaten in appropriate portions, nuts have proven to reduce the risk of heart disease. The combination of fiber, protein, and healthy fat in nuts provides satiety (fullness), making them an excellent option for weight management.
The big caveat, however, is the portion size. As mentioned above they are very calorie-dense, ranging from 160 to 200 calories per 1 ounce serving. We will highlight different nuts, their unique nutrition and portion size in the upcoming weeks.
