Superfood Tip: Cloves

Cloves are common in many holiday dishes, savory and sweets alike. Not only do they provide a festive aroma for the season, they also contain health benefits.

Like cinnamon, cloves are used in rich holiday dishes. Cloves will clear the sinuses and combat congestion. Cloves contain eugenol oil, which long has been used as an antiseptic in oral health. Clove oil is antiseptic, prevents bacterial growth and may ease dental pain. A fun, festive and aromatic project for the holidays is to make orange pomander balls.
