Superfood Tip: Celery
November 29, 2013
Celery is an excellent source of vitamin K, which is needed to maintain healthy, balanced blood. It is also a good source of folate, vitamin A, potassium, fiber and vitamin C. It is considered a "negative calorie food" because it is thought to require more calories to digest than the number of calories contained in one serving.
Celery’s mild flavor and crunchy texture makes it a great substitute for higher-fat chips, which offer minimal nutrition, as a dipper. Because of its versatility in preparation, it also would be great as "filler" in most recipes such as egg or chicken salad, soups or casseroles.
Consider adding celery into your everyday recipes to add volume and nutrients to your dish with very few calories.
