Student news: Army Pvt. Brandon Whitaker graduates from basic training

Army Pvt. Brandon Whitaker, a 2006 graduate of Moffat County High School, graduated from basic training on June 28, 2013, at Fort Sill, Okla.

During the nine-week training, Whitaker studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, advanced obstacle courses, repelling and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, basic and advanced rifle marksmanship, nuclear biological chemical warfare, drill and ceremony, marching, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, combat life saving, foot marches including 4K, 8K, 12K, and 16K and field training exercises.

He will move on to AIT, advanced training as a 13 Bravo cannon crew member.



Brandon is the son of Roger and Tammi Whitaker, of Craig.
