Officers of the Augusta Wallihan chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution presented an award to MCHS senior Curtis Dunlap for his work restoring an original student desk from the 1910 Lay School, owned by the chapter.

Dunlap did research to determine the age of the desk and created a stain using tobacco as was done in the early 20th century.
