Student achievement: Craig’s Kelly Knez gets $5,000 scholarship
Craig resident Kelly Knez, a nursing student attending Regis University in Denver, has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Credit Union of Colorado Foundation. She is one of eight students from throughout Colorado who have been awarded $5,000 college scholarships from the foundation.
Knez is about to begin her sophomore year at Regis, where she plans to specialize in neonatal intensive care. After college she hopes to spend some time as a missionary nurse bringing medical care to underserved countries. At Regis, Knez volunteers her time coordinating food drives for local food banks and raising money for children with cancer.
Foundation chairperson Doug Schneider said, “The foundation is very pleased to support Kelly and the seven other scholarship recipients. They clearly have demonstrated a commitment to leverage their education to build a better future for Colorado communities.”
