Stolen vehicle recovered after pursuit : On the Record — August 28 and 29

Tuesday, Aug. 28
1:01 a.m. At the intersection of Stout Street and Industrial Avenue, officers with the Craig Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers made contact with the vehicle and determined nothing was out of the ordinary.
8:24 a.m. On the 700 block of Hospital Loop, a caller reported attempted telephone fraud. Officers are investigating.
9:19 a.m. On the 500 block of Breeze Street, officers arrested a 32-year-old Craig man for allegedly breaking a window. The man said he lost his temper after leaving the Department of Motor Vehicles. He is charged with criminal mischief. The window he allegedly broke was estimated to be worth $350.
9:50 a.m. On U.S. Highway 40, near milepost 89, officers responded to a report of a vehicle striking a deer. The driver said the deer ran away after being hit. The vehicle sustained only minor damage and was drivable.

9:57 a.m. At a business on the 2000 block of Victory Way, officers arrested a suspected shoplifter, who was cited and released.
10:08 a.m. At a business on the 700 block of Victory Way, officers arrested a man on suspicion of shoplifting after a caller reported seeing him steal an item.
10:41 a.m. At the intersection of Fourth and Ranney streets, a caller reported seeing a suspicious man in the middle of the street yelling at cars. Officers were not able to locate the man.
1:11 p.m. On the 2400 block of Victory Way, a caller reported being bitten by a cat. Officers took a report.
1:36 p.m. At a business on the 2000 block of Victory Way, officers arrested a woman on suspicion of shoplifting.
4:38 p.m. On the 700 block of Victory Way, officers issued citation to a man for suspected trespassing.
6:10 p.m. On the 900 block of Finley Lane, a caller reported seeing a Yukon speeding through a school zone. Officers are investigating.
10:40 p.m. On the 2000 block of Baker Drive, officers investigated a disturbance at a residence. When officers arrived, they found no signs of a disturbance, and the homeowners denied calling the police.
Wednesday, Aug. 29
12:02 p.m. On the 800 block of First Street, a caller asked if there was a warrant on him. Officers told him “yes,” and the caller said he would turn himself in when he returns from vacation.
3:49 p.m. On the 800 block of Yampa Avenue, officers issued a warning to a man.
4:17 p.m. On the 2000 block of Victory Way, a caller reported damage to his fender. He suspected a Toyota leaving the parking lot hit his vehicle. When officers arrived, they determined the damage to the fender was old and must have gone unnoticed for a long time.
8:13 p.m. On the 500 block of Victory Way, a caller reported theft of a vehicle. The vehicle was stolen in Meeker, and officers were able to recover the vehicle, which was taken to the impound lot in Rio Blanco County. The suspect apparently abandoned the vehicle and could not be located. The case is under investigation.
