Steamboat police awaiting blood test results related to fatal motorcycle crash
Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs Police Department still is investigating the crash that killed a 60-year-old German man riding a motorcycle July 2 on Lincoln Avenue.
Detective Josh Carrell said they are awaiting Steamboat resident Scott Penfold’s blood test results. Penfold was driving the Jeep Liberty that crashed into Fels Bernhard.
Penfold told police a medical condition caused him to drive into the oncoming lane. Police are working to confirm that.
Carrell said it takes about six weeks to receive test results from the state.
No charges have been filed against Penfold.
“We’re just trying to make sure we collect all the necessary information,” Carrell said.
