Star Student: Laura Secules

You don’t have to look too closely to see that second-grader Laura Secules is shy — she’ll tell you straight out.

And, she’ll do it looking at the ceiling while twisting uncomfortably because of the attention.

The East El–e-

mentary School student is a sweetheart, Prin-

cipal Diana Cook said.

Secules is a twin, but Cook said she has her own distinct personality.

“She’s so caring with other kids,” Cook said. “She takes care of herself and others.”

Secules has two brothers, one who is her twin and one who is older.

“Sometimes they’re nice,” she said.

She said she likes school — recess in particular, though math ranked in the top two subjects.

She doesn’t — at all — like having school plays.

“I just don’t like them,” she said.

Being shy is most of the reason.

Secules loves horses and thinks that she might be able to get one when she gets older. She’s had riding lessons and hopes to be able to have them again.
