Sports briefs: Weather forces MCHS sports cancellations

A doubleheader scheduled for 4 p.m. today between the Moffat County High School boys varsity baseball team and Uintah (Utah) High School has been canceled.

The two teams were scheduled to play at 4 and 6 p.m. in a makeup of a March 15 game, but snowfall forced cancellation.

The Bulldogs (3-2 overall, 1-1 in the Western Slope League) are scheduled to host Delta (6-2 overall, 4-0 in the Western Slope League) at 11 a.m. Saturday at Craig Middle School, 915 Yampa Ave.

A time and date for the reschedule games against Uintah are pending.

The baseball team wasn’t the only team to have a cancellation because of the weather.

The MCHS girls varsity soccer game versus Rifle has been rescheduled from Tuesday to 4 p.m. May 7.

The girls junior varsity team was originally scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Tuesday but will play at 6 p.m. May 7.

The Bulldogs (1-4 overall, 1-3 in the Western Slope League) are scheduled to play next at 4 p.m. Friday at Woodbury Sports Complex, 350 S. Mack Lane, against Palisade (4-1 overall, 3-1 in the WSL).

The varsity team also will play at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodbury against Roaring Fork (2-2 overall, 2-2 in 3A Region 4).

Saturday’s boys varsity swimming meet in Montrose also was canceled.

No reschedule date has been announced.
