Sports briefs: Former players to honor retired coach

Former Moffat County High School basketball players are coming together to honor former coach Craig Mortensen.

There will be a celebration of Mortensen’s 30-plus years as head coach of the boys and girls basketball teams at 5 p.m. Aug. 7 at Craig Middle School.

The event will include refreshments and an alumni game.

Mortensen coached the boys team from 1976 to 1994, and the girls team from 1995 to 2010.

He retired in April after recording more than 500 career wins.
