Swim lessons start today

Craig Parks and Recreation is hosting swimming lessons starting today at the Craig Swimming Complex.

The lessons are for children ages 3 to 15 years old.

Classes are Monday through Thursday and last for two weeks. Class size is limited to six participants.

The fee to register is $35.

Craig Parks and Rec. water aerobics available for drop in

The Craig Parks and Recreation’s water aerobics classes start today at the Craig Swimming Complex.

The classes are at noon to 1 p.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The classes will run through August 11.

The drop in fee is $3 per class or $50 for the 10-week session.

Youth hockey teams looking for volunteer coaches

The Craig Youth Hockey Association is looking for coaches for the 2011-12 season.

The job would be a non-paying, volunteer position. All leagues — house, squirts, peewee, bantams and midgets — will be looking to fill positions.

Joanie Walt, president of the Craig Youth Hockey Association, said they are looking for candidates with a little hockey experience who want to be in a position to make a change in a young child’s life.

Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament set for June 11

The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office will host the 24th annual Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament on June 11 at Yampa Valley Golf Course, 2179 Colorado Highway 394.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble, and it begins at 7:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $40 per person plus greens fees for non-members. Two mulligans per player may be purchased before the start of the tournament as well.

First-, second- and third-place teams in both net and gross divisions will receive pro shop credits. Prizes will also be rewarded for closest to the pin and straightest drives.

All skill levels are welcome.

Proceeds benefit Moffat County High School graduates.

Doak Walker registration now open

Craig Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for the 2011 Doak Walker tackle football season.

Registration is open to all third- through sixth-graders.

The cost of registration is $50 and must be turned in by July 20.

Practice will begin the week of Aug. 8.

A mandatory skills day, official weigh in and equipment check will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 25 for third- and fourth-graders and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 26 for fifth- and sixth-graders at Craig City Hall, 300 W. Fourth St.
