Doak Walker registration deadline approaches

Craig Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for the 2011 Doak Walker tackle football season.

Registration is open to all third- through sixth-graders. Registration is $50 and must be turned in by Wednesday. Practice will begin the week of Aug. 8.

A mandatory skills day, official weigh-in and equipment check will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. July 25 for third- and fourth-graders and 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 26 for fifth- and sixth-graders at Craig City Hall, 300 Fourth St.

Craig Parks and Rec. water aerobics available for drop in

The Craig Parks and Recreation's water aerobics classes start today at the Craig Swimming Complex.

The classes run from noon to 1 p.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The classes will run through Aug. 11.

The drop-in fee is $3 per class or it's $50 for the 10-week session.

Thunder Ridge races postponed

The stock car races scheduled for July 16 at Thunder Ridge Motor Sports Park, located south of Craig, have been postponed until Saturday.

The first race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., but an extended hot lap session will prelude for a test and tune.
