Sports Briefs for May 7, 2011: Bull’s-eye pistol shooting every Thursday
The Bears Ears Sportsman Club is hosting a bull’s-eye pistol shooting practice every Thursday starting in May and continuing through August.
The range is located north of Craig off of Moffat County Road 7.
Practice will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and shooters will need to bring their own .22 pistols.
There will be instructors for one-hand and two-hand practice on a 25-yard match course.
The first night is free for new shooters, and every sequential practice will be $2 per shooter.

Memorial soccer tourney accepting registration
The third annual Emily Johnson Play It Forward 3-on-3 soccer tournament will take place June 4 and 5 at Gates Soccer Park, 6500 County Road 144, Glenwood Springs.
Play will begin at 8 a.m. June 4 and finish in the afternoon on June 5.
The tournament is to honor Emily Johnson, a Coal Ridge High School soccer player who died after an ATV accident in November 2008.
Players 8 to 18 years old and adults are encouraged to play.
There will be multiple girls and boys divisions as well as a co-ed adult division.
Teams consist of six players. The cost of registration is $150 per team or $25 per player.
Each team is guaranteed to play at least three games.
The 3A and 4A Western Slope League all-conference soccer teams will play on June 3, with the boys teams starting at 5 p.m. and girls teams at 7 p.m.
All proceeds will go into the Emily Johnson Play It Forward Fund for three scholarships offered to high school students.

Meeker Golf Course to host memorial tourney
The fourth annual Coach Bob Tucker Memorial Golf Tournament will take place May 21 at the Meeker Golf Course, 903 County Rd. 13, Meeker.
Registration will start at 8 a.m., and tee-off is set for 9 a.m.
The tournament will be a four-person scramble over 18 holes.
The entry fee is $80 per person, which includes greens fee, a golf cart, lunch and prizes.
Shelton Welding will sponsor a $5,000 hole-in-one prize, and a mulligan may be purchased before the tournament for $5.
The tournament will benefit the Coach Bob Tucker Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Meeker High School student-athlete.
